French Press

Many coffee lovers have taken their first step past Auto-Drip with a Press Pot and there’s no reason to give up on old Frenchie now. Its filtering process allows your coffee to keep its essential oils and gives you a full-bodied cup with minimal effort.

Step 1

Heat water

to 200˚ F, or about 30 seconds off the boil.

Step 2

Weigh out

7 grams of coffee for every 4oz (or 113g) of water you’re going to use (For example, a 12oz, or 340g water cup of coffee works well with around 21g).

Step 3

Grind

the coffee coarsely.

Step 4

Place in press

and set timer to 4 minutes.

Step 5

Pour in water

(we measure by weight to ensure accuracy), making sure to wet all the grinds; start timer and cover with top.

Step 6

After 1 minute

stir the grinds vigorously for a few seconds, and cover.

Step 7

After 4 minutes

press the pot.

Step 8

Pour immediately

You don’t want to keep your coffee in the pot any longer, as the coffee will stay in contact with the grinds and over-extract, causing bitterness and off-notes.
