Greg's Selecting What?

April 8, 2014

Some of you may have already been informed by our baristas about our Gregorys Select program, especially if you’re a fan of Grupo Suyatal or were a fan of one of our last single origins, Gelana Abaya. But for those of you who haven’t been acquainted with this awesome thing we’re doing, no worries- you are not a bad person. Forgiveness is possible through offerings to the coffee gods. Just kidding about that last part.

Gregorys Select is a project that allows us to be fully involved with the realization of certain coffees: sourcing the beans, deciphering flavor notes, and selecting the roast profile. In other words, we take a more hands-on responsibility for these coffees than any of the single origin coffees offered.

Wait, so Gregorys Coffee roasts now?
The Gregorys Select program is really made possible by our good friends at Irving Farm Coffee Roasters. We work together in sourcing and tasting, but more importantly, Irving Farm roasts our Select coffees for us based on what we feel will maximize the coffee’s innate deliciousness. Cheers to coffee friends, roasting partnerships, and teamwork!

So now that you’re in the loop, we recently introduced two of our newest Gregorys Select coffees: Dukunde Kawa and Alto del Obispo. Dukunde Kawa is part of our new round of Aeropress single origins. Hailing from Rwanda, this coffee has flavor notes of orange zest, milk chocolate, and plum. Alto del Obispo is our latest Featured French Press coffee from Columbia that is available Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 11:00am*. This coffee has lots of chocolate and caramel sweetness (reminiscent of post-Halloween dentist visits), roasted nuts, and cherries. Our baristas are more than happy to tell you more about them over the Aeropress bar or mid-French press plunge.
