Sweet days – Sweeter treats

Feeling festive? To celebrate the official day: September 18 – National Rice Krispies Treat Day, we’re sharing our favourite recipe!

 

No one knows quite how or why this “national day” came to be. At any rate, it’s always fun to celebrate something with only the slightest reasons. Super close to our very own Rice Chex treats, there's a special place in our heart for this totally simple, gooey and buttery perfection! This perfect recipe will make 16 squares:

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 Tbsp butter

  • 8 cups, plus 2 cups mini marshmallows

  • 6 cups Krispie (Can substitute with Chex Cereal)

  • ½ tsp salt

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Line a 9x9 pan with foil and spray lightly with cooking spray, set aside.

  2. In a large pot over low heat melt butter. Once butter is melted add in 8 cups mini marshmallows, stirring constantly.

  3. Once the marshmallows are just melted remove from heat and stir in your cereal and salt until just coated in marshmallow mixture. Now stir in the remaining 2 cups of mini marshmallows.

  4. Pour mixture into prepared pan and press in evenly.

  5. Allow cooling completely before cutting into squares. Best if served the same day.
