Bragging rights (and money, too)

June 22, 2012

Thursday night at the Park Avenue Thunderdome, we held our second team latte art throwdown. Despite a spirited effort, defending champions Fashion Avenue were beaten to the top by the upstarts from 46th Street. Fueled by the inspiring leadership of Bailey, the soy magic of Max, the surprising ambidextrousness of Elizabeth, the much-improved tulips of Maciej, the frighteningly good luck of Brad, and the type of team unity displayed by their being the only team to have any sort of costume theme (half-assed though it was), Team Throwback fought off the defending champs and valiant efforts from both the Park Ave and 44th St. shops to come out on top. Lots of beer was consumed and a whole lot of trash was talked, and we’ll have more pictures of all of it from our ace photographer Jackie coming soon.

New Park Ave manager Jessica, who won the brief but exciting manager tournament, busted out this ridiculousness. To call it a hanging heart would be underselling it greatly.

Blindfolded pouring with the advice of a person standing in front of you. Because of our lack of blindfolds and the necessity of a third set of hands, this was christened the Three Fruit Smoothie, and took quite a while to decide a winner.

More photos soon and in the meantime the baristas from 46th Street will be more than happy to tell you about their triumph.
